Before Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan rebirthed the Rocky franchise with Creed, but after Sylvester Stallone kicked around the corpse of his own creation in Rocky V, there came the odd bridge of Rocky Balboa, a wistful and occasionally charming examination of what happens in the decades after the balloon of fame has slowly leaked into something wrinkled and dusty. Unfortunately, Stallone can’t trust us to watch that film, pushing the story into a fight so indifferently shot and edited that you can feel the entire series shrug its hormone-enhanced shoulders.
